Manchester United and Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo has had his loan at the club extended for an additional 7 months, running till 2021.
Fans of the club and the striker have been calling for the extension of Shanghai Shenhua’s striker and a deal has now been announced.
The 30-year-old’s original four-month loan deal was due to expire today (Sunday), but the club have been working on a resolution to keep Ighalo at Old Trafford over the past couple of weeks.
Sources close to the player have said negotiations are continuing between United and Shanghai Shenhua on Sunday but an extended loan deal until January 30 is now “looking most likely”.
That will allow Ighalo to complete the season with United and while the 2020/21 calendar remains up in the air, he will almost certainly spend the first few months of that campaign with the club as well.
The club also announced via it’s Twitter page that the loan has been extended till January 2021.
